Try power boating or sailing for the first time at the Newport Boat Show
It is fun to get out on a boat with your friends and family, but as a guest, you do not always learn the skills you need to get out on the water yourself. The best way to gain the confidence and skills needed for safe power boating and sailing, is to learn from the professionals. Now you have the chance to get hands-on training from USCG licensed captains, in a low-pressure environment.
There are options for first time sailors and power boaters to learn essential skills in a Beneteau sailboat, or a Boston Whaler powerboat.
In our “First Sail” program, participants will spend some time in a classroom getting lessons and then take that knowledge out on the water, during a two hour session. After completing this course, you will understand how a sailboat works, the common sailing terminology and basic seamanship. All participants will learn about helming and crewing the boats. There is quite a bit to learn about sailing, but the “First Sail” program on one of our Beneteau training boats, is the perfect introduction for anyone looking to try it out!
Day/Time: Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 10:00 AM to Noon || 1:00 – 3:00 PM || 4:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday: 10:00 AM to Noon || 1:00 – 3:00 PM

In this course we teach participants about getting underway safely, common boat systems and equipment, safe navigation basics including “rules of the road”, and other skills needed on the water. This is a great opportunity not only to try out boating if you have always wanted to learn more in a low-pressure environment, but also get your introduction to power boating on the famous “unsinkable” Boston Whaler, one of the best known brands in boating!
