Harbormaster Mills stated: “The addition of an AED will greatly enhance our ability to respond
to an emergency heart attack victim in Newport harbor and cut down on the time it would
normally take to get a patient to treatment and will save lives in the process.”
NMA President Souder noted, “This donation represents one of our stated goals of support for
Newport Harbor and on behalf of the NMA Board and our members, we are delighted to
provide aid to the Newport Harbormaster Department.”
The Newport Maritime Alliance was formed with these stated goals: To Support & Encourage
Maritime Non-Profits, Businesses & Trades, To Preserve and Promote Newport as a Viable Host
for International Yachting Events, To Support Sound Harbor Planning & Management, and To
Preserve Newport Harbor as a Natural Resource for its Best Long Term Use.
